A 57-square mile 55 plus community in Florida, it is now the nation’s fastest-growing metro according to the most recent U.S. census. From July 1, 2022 to July 1, 2023, the population grew by 4.7 percent to 151,565. With more than 300 clubs and 50 golf courses, this community has something for everyone. As of this writing, there are over 600 homes for sale in The Villages on Realtor.com. The community has roughly 71,000 homes total, with new ones springing up daily. The median list price is currently $389,900. I have one client who sold in Santee and moved there and loves life. My cousin from Minnesota went down last year and explored the neighborhood. Apparently it does have a bit of a scandalous reputation too. According to a recent article on Realtor.com, There is a rumor that was spawned by a "2006 WFTV news report that stated, 'One physician at the Women’s Center of The Villages said even in her years working in Miami, she has never seen so many cases of STDs.' This quote went viral, and the community became infamous as the STD Capital of America. This report has since been scrubbed from the Internet and not found to have any basis in truth. Nonetheless, the story lives on and often stirs up concern among friends and relatives of people considering a move to The Villages." If you are thinking about moving out of state maybe The Villages is for you (without the scandal!). The article on Realtor.com shows some sample houses which might pique your interest.
