As our 20-somethings are getting priced out of the housing market I have been thinking about ways we can get them a property of their own with some space. I also have seen some very attractive manufactured homes lately. In fact, there is one for sale in the $700,000s right now on Mt. Helix that sits on a permanent foundation. The lot is large enough that you could build a more permanent structure down the road but this would get you into a very desirable neighborhood at what is considered an entry level price for detached housing in San Diego County. Interesting.
I also like the idea of building "cool" mobile home parks. Think DJs by the community pool on Saturday and public areas to congregate. This all lead me to looking at manufactured homes that are for sale across the country. I was surprised to find an article on Realtor.com that showcased five listed around $500k. They are worth taking a peek. Oh, and don't call them trailers. They are far more attractive than what you would imagine.
