As Asheville, North Carolina and other parts of the south continue to dig out from devastating Hurricane Helene, and roughly 750,000 homes are still without power, the question comes up, "Where would I move to avoid hurricanes?" So let's look at places with a lower hurricane risk.
Realtor.com just ran an article on this so I don't need to recreate the wheel. They highlighted the 10 states with the lowest risk of hurricane damage and, no surprise, they are all in the center part of the country. As you look at the list you will note they may have their own issues - flooding, landslides, snow storms and tornados - but at least the risk of hurricane is reduced!
