If you have recently tried to build a new deck, or do any other wood project, you probably noticed that wood is really expensive. I certainly did when we were working on a new outdoor barbecue. Why? I wondered. Obviously COVID has impacted supply chains but is there more to it than that? I did a bit of digging to get a clearer picture and found out that lumber is up 280 percent since the pandemic began. No, that is not a typo. This shortage is also impacting the price of new homes.
