When I think of our bay I think of its many recreational and military purposes but I don't think of it its use as port of entry. San Pedro or Long Beach come to mind when I think of ports of entry for oversees companies sending products over water to the US. It was interesting to hear the Port of San Diego just negotiated a large contract with an G2 Ocean, a bulk shipping company based in Norway, to bring steel and other products in through our local marine terminal as opposed to those larger ports north of us.
While this isn't a real estate issue specifically it is interesting in that the terminal has been in the midst of modernization for the past few years to allow for the more speedy handling of larger and specialty cargo. The Port folks believe the new contract will bring additional jobs which is always good for the economy. If you are interested in reading more the UT did a good article on the contract.
