Fill up your tank on Monday or Tuesday if you want to delay the pain of paying an extra $.12 a gallon for gas. Starting November 1, the California state tax on gas will go from $.18 a gallon to $.30 to raise funds for transportation projects. This isn't the only tax added to a gallon of gas. In all, California buyers will have almost $.72 added to each gallon starting on Wednesday.
