While it can be fun to dream about redoing your kitchen (that is me!) or adding wall paper to your bathroom, it can also be overwhelming to actually get it done. Money, of course, is a factor but it can also be intimidating to put your ideas into action. Which paint color is the best? What furniture will look good and fit in my room? Do I want blinds or curtains? There are a multitude of questions which need to be answered. A professional designer can help but if you want to go it alone there are lots of tools available to help you answer those questions.
A few are:
Paint color? Both Valspar and Sherwin-Williams offer consultation with their experts. Sherwin-Williams has you send them photos prior to a 30-minute consultation call and their experts give you recommendations. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/virtual-color-consultation . Valspar has an online form you complete and they will send you options. I have blogged before about the Sherwin-Williams AR tool that lets you change your wall colors with a digital tool. Benjamin Moore and Behr have a similar tool.
Kitchen/Bath remodeling? Ikea has great online help with planning. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/customer-service/services/kitchen-planning/ Home Depot also advertises free initial design consultations for kitchen and bath remodels. I have also seen other cabinet companies offer free design for their portion of the job.
Furniture placement? I get nervous having someone come to my house because I am convinced they will strong arm me into buying things. Most large furniture stores have free in-house services. I haven't tried them but if you have let me know. Crate and Barrel has a design desk and it says you can do your planning in the store, through video or have them come out and see your house. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/interior-design/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxkyKkEt8I5khf-z2csm6euJfDiPzxxTsaOIwXxUY2Cw1ly7ZFqbTuoaAuOoEALw_wcB
These should get you started on implementing your plans. Don't be afraid to search online for what you need. There is a good chance someone has a free tool. Let me know if you have found a fabulous, free tool that you want to share with others. I will blog about it!
