As a parent of both a college and a high school student I am aware that the cost for college has gone up since my days there. I was not aware, however, that the median household income for our millennials had gone down. As you can see by this graphic, the cost of purchasing a home has also increased. It is a tough time to be entering the work force and trying to buy a home. Thankfully there are a variety of state (and some San Diego City) programs that can help first-time home buyers (they can't help you with the cost of raising a child though and look at that number!) If you are a millennial thinking about buying talk to a lender about low down payment and down payment loan programs.
